Jaco Reminiscent of Daytona Beach Two Decades Ago
Playa de Jacó is the closest thing in Costa Rica to Daytona Beach during spring break -- although Tamarindo is catching up. This long stretch of beach is strung with a dense hodgepodge of hotels in all price categories, cheap souvenir shops, seafood restaurants, pizza joints, and even a miniature-golf course.
The number-one attraction is the surf, and this is definitely a surfer-dominated beach town. Surfers love the consistent beach break here (and at neighboring Playa Hermosa). Canadian charter flights keep this town pretty full during the northern winter months, and Jacó is also gaining popularity with German tourists and young Ticos.
If you have never been to Costa Rica, Jaco is a wonderful place to start. It is the closest beach from San Jose, and it has everything you need. There are restaurants, casinos, grocery stores, quaint hotels, bar clubs etc. It has rain forests, canopy rides, horseback riding. Young, old, everyone will find something in Jaco.
Jaco town on Costa Rica’s central pacific coast is one of the prime real estate hot spots for many years. Its proximity to Costa Rica’s capital (San Jose) and the international airport gives Jaco great accessibility. Many new projects are being developed in Jaco and surrounding Jaco.
The close by Los Sueños Marina offers sport fishermen the action they need, Jaco has supermarkets, restaurants and basically every service you would need while you stay here. Activities in Jaco area are abundant; while surf is the main activity, horseback riding, ATV tours and nature related activities are available.
