Nicoya

 Nicoya.

Set in a dip surrounded by low mountains, the biggest town in the Peninsula de Nicoya and  it has a pleasant central park and a white colonnial church. Nicoya is a big cattle center located close to beaches, Santa Cruz (Costa Rica's folklore capital), and the traditional pottery-making town of Guaitil. The town is permeated by an air of infinite stasis but is deniably pretty, with a lovely Parque Central and its white adobe church (earthquake-battered, structurally unstable and currently closed), cascading bougainvillea and colorful plants. Condos, farms, homes are greatly available in Nicoya real estate. There’s a considerable Chinese presence in the town and many of the restaurants, hotels, and stores are owned by descendants of Chinese immigrants. Currently, only few of Costa Rica's tourists visit this region - an advantage for those who love nature instead of crowds.
